By registering, the participant agrees to the following rules.
A participation certificate (e-ticket) is only valid if the full registration fee has been paid. Registration requires payment. Participation is entirely at your own risk. In case of cancellation up to 14 days before the event (up to September 14, 2024), the cancellation costs will be the amount of the cycling clothing you purchased plus shipping costs. This covers our costs for the shirt and socks (due to pre-ordering), shipping, and administrative costs. If you can find a replacement, no cancellation fees will be charged. Note: the cycling shirt cannot be exchanged for a different size for a replacement. From 14 days before the event, the cancellation costs are 100%. In all cases, we will send you the ordered merchandise to your home.
If the event cannot take place due to external circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions, the coronavirus or any other unforeseen events, no refund of the registration fee will be made. The organization decides on the cancellation of the event and we will try to move the event to a later date to be announced this year. If the bike ride still cannot take place, you will receive part of your registration fee back. The shirt and socks will already have been ordered and will be sent to you by mail.
All traffic rules apply during the Climate Classic and must be respected. The police will enforce traffic regulations and conduct checks on dangerous behavior. Participation in the ride and access to the rest stops is only possible for registered participants. Your e-ticket, which you receive after registration, is your official starting permit.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of other road users. The use of support vehicles is prohibited. The organization is not liable for any accidents or damage, nor for the loss and/or theft of personal belongings of the participant.
By registering for the Climate Classic, participants declare that they are in sufficient health to complete the ride and that they have a proper bicycle. We work with photographers and filmmakers during the event to create an impression of the event. These images will be used for the event’s website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and possible press publications. By registering, you agree to the use of these photos on the described media. According to the applicable GDPR regulations, you can request us to take a photo/video offline. To do so, send an email to [email protected] and respond via the corresponding social channel for a quick response.
Participants give their consent through their registration for the use of data by the sponsors of Cycling 4 Climate for promotional purposes. More information can be found in our privacy statement. Participants give their consent through their registration for the publication of their name if rankings are made. They also agree to the publication of photos in which they are depicted. Participants give their consent through their registration to be included in the mailing list/newsletter of Cycling 4 Climate.
When participating in the Climate Classic, wearing a helmet is mandatory for all distances. Participants must behave like all other road users and do not take an exceptional position. Participants must immediately follow the instructions of the police and the organization. Participants may be excluded from further participation for misconduct, not adhering to traffic rules, and not following the instructions of the police and the organization. These participants are also excluded from participation in other rides organized by the organization in the future.
Ride Safety & Etiquette
Riding technique and group riding
A helmet is mandatory
Drop-handlebars only
E-bikes welcome, if rider has sufficient experience in riding in groups (please notify organization in registration)
No usage of tri-bars (if tri-bars are mounted no need to remove, but do not use them)
No ear-buds or headphones
No center-lining (Stay on the right side of the road at all times)
Riding side by side with a maximum of 2 people
While riding side by side, keep handlebars on the same height and no empty gaps to keep the group compact
No half-wheeling (Your front wheel stays behind the rear wheel of the person in front of you)
Indicate road hazards manually and/or orally
Minimize abrupt maneuvres in the group, such as sudden braking, swerving, and standing up
Indicate before you stand up because there will be a «kickback»
If you ride in front of the group, you are responsible for the correct routing
If you ride within the group, you follow the lead of the person in front
Behavior
The Swiss Climate Classic aims to stimulate positive behavior change and climate conscious decisions in a positive, non activistic way.
We do not judge, criticize or lecture others on their (climate) decisions but inspire in a positive manner.
Respect your fellow riders and other road users. Give feedback in a respectful way.
Do not provoke other road users or react to provocations from others.
Spitting and nose cleaning only if you’re at the very end of the group.

Participation in Swiss Climate Classic rides is entirely at your own risk. Neither Swiss Climate Classic organizers nor participants are liable in any way and under no circumstances for any damage, loss, or injury. Swiss Climate Classic organizers do not warrant the safety of routes selected for rides and the distributed route files. Participants are aware that roads aren’t closed and have to obey road traffic regulations. Participants are responsible for the maintenance and safety of their equipment, as well as for personal liability insurance. Swiss Climate Classic reserves the right to exclude participants if they pose a threat to the safety of themselves or others, or fail to obey traffic rules and rules specified by the organizers. Participants confirm that they understand and accept this disclaimer by registering for an activity.
